\"CourseThe Figaro skippers are training for La Solitaire Bompard \u2013 Le Figaro<\/a> race<\/strong> that will start on June 19th in Deauville. There are already 26 skippers wishing to succeed to Yann Eli\u00e8s.<\/span><\/p>\n

To do so, they take part to the pre-season races: Solo Normandie, Transat AG2R LA MONDIALE, Solo Ma\u00eftre Coq, Le Havre Allmer Cup\u2026<\/p>\n

On the beginning of the season, Macif 2015 skipper Charlie Dalin won the Solo Concarneau, then after an intense suspense, Thierry Chabagny and Erwan Tabarly finished in first position in the Transat AG2R La Mondiale after 22 days at sea and with only a 4-minute lead. The Solo Maitre Coq was won by Ovimpex \u2013 Secours Populaire skipper Anthony Marchand and, finally, it is a home-win for Groupe Fiva skipper Alexis Loison who finished in first position in the Solo Normandie\u00a0 race. All of them will be racing in La Solitaire Bompard \u2013 Le Figaro: a great battle is going to take place so it’s time to place your bets!<\/p>\n

For IMOCA 60s, 2016 is the year of Vendee Globe Race<\/strong><\/a>! One after another, equipped or not with foils, the boats are in the assault upon qualification or compete in preparatory races: Calero Marinas Solo Transat, The Transat bakerly, New York \u2013 Vend\u00e9e\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Only 27 skippers will be on departure of the non-stop round-the-world race on November 6th<\/sup> in Sables d’Olonne: it is already a great battle for the skippers to be officially qualified for the race. But the true question is: will the winner be a boat equipped with foils?<\/p>\n

On The Transat bakerly<\/strong>, it is Armel Le Cl\u00e9ac\u2019h who is winning with his new Banque Populaire boat equipped with foils.<\/p>\n

Most of Bakerly Transat skippers will cross back the Atlantic racing either on the New York-Vend\u00e9e<\/strong> for the IMOCA 60\u2019, either on The Transat\u00a0Quebec-Saint Malo Race<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for the others. This one is the oldest offshore race from west to east with no stop and crew handed and will start on July 10th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n

Young\u00a0American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/h2>\n

It is a great pleasure for us to announce all our support to the Young\u00a0<\/strong>American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/strong>, the youngest entry in the Newport\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Bermuda race<\/strong> starting on June 17th.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Team<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/strong> story began three years ago at American Yacht Club, New York.\u00a0 The team comprises of young sailors aged between 14-19.\u00a0 The mission of the team is to teach and impart proper seamanship skills and to compete in as many big boat races as possible with an emphasis on distance racing.\u00a0 The team has already notched up significant race wins and trophies and gained some notoriety in the process.\u00a0 For example, the team has overall fleet victories in both the Block Island Race and the Vineyard Race; two of New England\u2019s most prestigious trophies.<\/p>\n

Riding high on the wave of this success, eight of the more experienced sailors have been selected to embark on the Newport Bermuda race. Many members of the crew are accomplished dinghy boat racers, racing at the National level (Laser class).\u00a0 Other members of the team already have a number of sea miles under their belts.\u00a0 Two members recently worked a 2,400 nautical mile passage in a RP 74 from Honolulu to San Diego.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

At aged 15, Madelyn Ploch (a sail-maker\u2019s daughter) is the youngest sailor on the team.\u00a0 She\u2019s also one of only two girls on board. The other is Carina Becker, the daughter of Peter Becker, one of the three adult coaches on board and the leader and mastermind behind the Young American Junior Big Boat Team Newport Bermuda race entry. Peter is a Newport Bermuda race veteran having completed in no less than fifteen Newport Bermuda races. He completed his first race aged 16!<\/p>\n

Over the last few weeks, the team has been working hard to get their boat, \u201cHigh Noon\u201d, a 41 foot Grand Prix Racing yacht designed by Bill Tripp, ready for the race.<\/p>\n

Aboard to guide and assist them is Guillermo Altadill, a Barcelona native who has completed seven circumnavigations (three with podium places) and fourteen transatlantic crossings.\u00a0 It was Guillermo who recommended the use of Adrena software and the team is excited to explore and familiarize themselves with it!\u00a0 They\u2019re confident that with his experience, their talent and Adrena, they will have a winning formula!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
