Will Harris takes the Rookie title<\/h3>\n

After a demanding battle with tough conditions, the talented Artemis Offshore Academy<\/strong><\/a> skipper Will Harris<\/strong> won the Solitaire Bompard Le Figaro<\/strong> Rookie title.<\/p>\n

The 22-year-old Englishman crossed the La Rochelle finish line in eighth position, 17 seconds ahead of the championship winner Yoann Richomme<\/strong> and nearly two minutes ahead of the brilliant Espoir CEM skipper Pierre Quiroga, his closest opponent.<\/p>\n

Will Harris became the third Artemis Offshore Academy skipper in 4 years to win the Rookie title.<\/p>\n

Volvo Ocean Race 2017-18<\/strong><\/p>\n

The route<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

The 13th edition will cross no fewer than four oceans and take in 11 major cities on five continents. The total distance of the racetrack will be around 45,000 nautical miles, which is the longest distance in the Volvo Ocean Race<\/strong> history. But while the teams will sail more nautical miles than ever before, the race itself will be one month shorter than in most of the last 12 editions. It will start from Alicante, Spain, late next year and will end with a final in The Hague, Netherlands, in summer 2018.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore action, more speed, more tough miles and more host venues, but a shorter race \u2013 it\u2019s an evolution in the right direction and a move that takes the Race closer to its original roots and heritage\u201d<\/em> said Mark Turner,<\/strong> who took over as CEO of the Volvo Ocean Race<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Management changes<\/strong><\/a><\/h3>\n

The Volvo Ocean Race<\/strong> has made key changes to its Leadership Team. Mark Turner<\/strong> took over as CEA and Phil Lawrence as new Race Director. In addition, five-time Volvo Ocean Race<\/strong> sailor Richard Mason, employed as Head of Host Port Operations in 2015, will become Operations Director. Jordi Neves, formerly Technology Director, is now Chief Digital Officer, with responsibility across Technology, Communications and Marketing departments. In other changes announced, Miles Quitmann will join the Volvo Ocean Race in the newly-created role of Chief Business Development Officer, leading the development of new relationships with potential sponsors for both teams and the event. These changes have been made to optimize the evolution and innovations that will be brought to the longest sports event in the world.<\/p>\n

Vend\u00e9e Globe: 3 extra places<\/a>!<\/strong><\/h2>\n

On Wednesday June 29th, the organizers announced that 3 extra places will be made available which means that no fewer than 30 skippers will be able to line up at the start of the non-stop solo round the world race on November 6th<\/sup> in Sables d’Olonne. 4 continents and 10 nations may be represented, which would be a record in the history of the event.<\/p>\n

Newport Bermuda Race: Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Adrena is very proud to support The Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/strong>, the youngest entry in the Newport Bermuda Race<\/strong><\/a> 2016.<\/p>\n

\"Young<\/p>\n

Sailing High Noon, a Tripp 41, the Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team<\/strong> crushed the Newport Bermuda Race<\/strong> 2016 finishing second over the line (behind none other than Comanche) and winning first place in the St David\u2019s Lighthouse Division 10 and the inaugural Stephens Brothers Youth Division prize.<\/p>\n

The race this year began amid fears of gale force winds.\u00a0 Of the 185 boats officially entered to compete in the race, over 50 boats dropped out before the start.\u00a0 The team faced moderately challenging conditions of 30 knot winds but persevered, not only to arrive safely in Bermuda but with the added benefit of an outstanding result!<\/p>\n

Racing legend, Guillermo Altadill was the principle navigator on board the boat and was able to resource information quickly and efficiently to ensure that his weather routing was a resounding success!<\/p>\n

Nordseewoche “North Sea Week”: one of the biggest regattas events in Germany<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Adrena was very happy to support the 82nd Nordseewoche<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 \u201cNorth Sea Week<\/strong>\u201d \u2013 that took place from 13th to 16th May 2016 in Helgoland. Besides sailing professionals, sailors with less regatta experience can also participate to the event which is a fantastic opportunity to get into race scene. Indeed, the \u201cFamily-Cruiser-Cup\u201d requires neither exact boat measurements nor any other formalities and offers a relaxed atmosphere. For more aspired sailors, the Nordseewoche<\/strong> presents demanding long distance races. The Pantaenius Rund Skagen race<\/strong> took place at the end of the Nordseewoche<\/strong>. Known as one of the hardest offshore regattas in Europe, the 510 nautical mile course sees competitors racing from the island of Helgoland to Kiel.<\/p>\n

Adrena team would like to congratulate all of the competitors and in particular the impressive performance of RED Class 40 crew including Mathias M\u00fcller von Blumencron<\/strong>, Adrena\u2019s user, with a first place in the Pantaenius Rund Skagen race<\/strong> (All Classes ORCC) but also OUTSIDER Elliot 52ss with a first place (All Classes ORCi) as well as VINGA crew, including Philipp Kay and Moritz Haltermann, with a second place in Hamburg (Wedel) – Cuxhaven race!<\/p>\n
