It is likely to be an exciting end of season!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<strong>23 Figaro skippers<\/strong>\u00a0will be racing on the 774nm course (coefficient 6) and in the Grand Prix that are held on each stopover (coefficient 1).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Yoann Richomme (<em>Skipper Macif 2014<\/em>), Gw\u00e9nol\u00e9 Gahinet (<em>Safran-Guy Cotten<\/em>) but also Sebastien Simon (<em>Bretagne-Credit Mutuel Espoir<\/em>), to mention but a few, will not only try to win the race but also to reach the podium of the Solo Offshore French Championship. Among the skippers considered as favorite can be mentioned Xavier Macaire (<em>Skipper H\u00e9rault<\/em>) who competes at home in S\u00e8te and Gildas Morvan (<em>Cercle Vert<\/em>), the only double-winner to take part to the race this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Several freshmen also participate: the Mediterranean Aymeric Arthaud (<em>Reel \u2013 PGO Automobiles<\/em>), Benjamin Dutreaux (<em>Team Vend\u00e9e<\/em>), Nicolas Thomas and Arthur Prat (<em>Guadeloupe Grand Large<\/em>), the\u00a0<strong>British Nick Cherry\u00a0<\/strong><em>(Redshift)<\/em>\u00a0but also\u00a0<strong>Sam Matson and Alan Roberts<\/strong>\u00a0(<em>Magma Structures<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The<strong>\u00a0Generali Solo<\/strong>\u00a0has started on Friday 18th September with the Languedoc-Roussillon Grand Prix (won by Charlie Dalin after 5 legs), and the first leg has started on Sunday 20th September (to be followed on the<a title=\"Generali Solo \" href=\"http:\/\/www.generali-solo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0race website<\/a>)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>ADRENA supports the Generali Solo<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Already present onboard the majority of\u00a0<strong>Class Figaro boats<\/strong>, ADRENA is now equipping the Generali Solo Race Management Team. Thanks to mutual tools, the link between the navigators and the organization team is facilitated and security at sea is strengthened. The various functionalities of the\u00a0<strong>navigation software<\/strong>\u00a0(GRIB weather files display, roadbooks, competitors monitoring thanks to the automatic position loading, ranking, competitors routing\u2026) enable the preparation of press scrum as well as the briefing sessions for skippers.<\/p>\n<h2><img style=\"float: left;\" title=\"Mini Transat\" alt=\"Mini Transat\" width=\"120\" height=\"157\" \/>Mini Transat, Return to its origins<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">24 years after the edition of 1991, the race starts again from Brittany, France; a return to its origins which is close to the idea developed by\u00a0<strong>Bob Salmon<\/strong>\u00a0about the race. Often considered as a \u201cmust do\u201d for professional navigators, the\u00a0<strong>Mini Transat<\/strong>\u00a0is an exceptional marine adventure: almost 4 weeks of navigation to cross solo the Atlantic Ocean on\u00a0<strong>6.50-meter sailboats<\/strong>\u00a0without any exterior assistance.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Douarnenez \/ Lanzarote \/ Pointe-\u00e0-Pitre<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are 72 boats participating to the 20th edition of the Mini Transat. 4 women and 68 men of 16 different nationalities have started from Douarnenez on September 19th. After having crossed the Bay of Biscay until Lanzarote, they will cross the Atlantic Ocean into the trade winds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>The competition inside the race: prototype or production?<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are two divisions in\u00a0<strong>Mini 6.50: prototype and production boats<\/strong>. The prototype division is the birthplace of offshore racing technical progress thanks to performant and innovative boats specifically conceived for the race. They are the very essence of the Mini Transat. There are 26 prototypes competing this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for the production division, it gathers 46 boats, which is almost twice as much as the prototypes. They are initially conceived for the race but also for cruising. Less sophisticated and performant than the prototypes, but easier to handle and maintain, they enable navigators to be almost on a level playing field saving themselves the construction stages. To obtain the status of \u201cproduction boat\u201d, a minimum of 10 similar units have to be built.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>The &#8220;Mini Transat Iles de Guadeloupe&#8221;, to be followed\u00a0<a title=\"Mini Transat\" href=\"http:\/\/www.minitransat-ilesdeguadeloupe.fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Rolex Fastnet, a Race that \u201cRocks\u201d<\/h2>\n<h3>603 nautical miles between Cowes and Plymouth via Fastnet Rock<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For its 90th anniversary, the 46<sup>th<\/sup> edition of the <strong>Rolex Fastnet Race<\/strong> registered a record-sized fleet: 340 <strong>IRC<\/strong> boats and around fifty Open sailboats. Far from the spectacular weather conditions that made the race\u2019s reputation (sometimes in a dramatic way), the competitors encountered light and unpredictable winds this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: 12px; line-height: 1.5em;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 1.5em; text-align: left;\">Spindrift2, Comanche &amp; PRB, winners in real time<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Start was given at Cowes, on the Solent, the area of water between southern England and the Isle of Wight, on Sunday 16<sup>th<\/sup> August at 12:00. <strong>Maxi-trimaran Spindrift 2<\/strong> finished first at 23:57 (CET) on Tuesday night. <strong>Yann Guichard<\/strong>\u2019s and <strong>Dona Bertarelli<\/strong>\u2019s crew sealed their second victory in real time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Comanche<\/strong>, the Maxi American 100 ft. skipped by <strong>Ken Read<\/strong>, was the first <strong>monohull<\/strong> to finish the race only 4 minutes before <strong>Rambler 88<\/strong>. They finished 6 hours after the 88 ft. in the corrected-time classification.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for <strong>IMOCA<\/strong>, <strong>Vincent Riou and Sebastien Col<\/strong> (<em>PRB<\/em>) finished first on Wednesday 19th August in the beginning of the afternoon, just before Yann Elies &amp; Charlie Dalin (<em>Queguiner-Leucemie Espoir<\/em>) and Morgan Lagraviere &amp; Nicolas Lunven (<em>Safran<\/em>). Paul Meilhat &amp; Michel Desjoyeaux (<em>SMA<\/em>) missed a mark of the course \u2013 Bishop Rock, to the west of the Scilly Isles \u2013 and chose to retire whereas they were leading.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>IMOCA\u00a0Foils vs 2012 Generation<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from <strong>SNSM Record<\/strong> and training sessions at<strong> Port-La-Foret (France)<\/strong>, the new IMOCA did not really have the occasion to confront themselves to the ones that raced the last Vendee Globe. The long-awaited duel took place and the 2012 generation\u00a0boats took the advantage on the <strong>2015 IMOCA Foils<\/strong> (<em>Safran and Banque Populaire<\/em>). To be continued\u2026<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Overall IRC: 13 is the lucky number?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Gery Trentesaux was racing in IRC3 onboard his 10.80 JPK, Courier du Leon<\/strong>, but as he beated all his opponents as well as the biggest boats in<strong> IRC2<\/strong>, he won the victory in <strong>Overall IRC<\/strong> which is a nice reward for his thirteenth participation! Even if he had stolen the start on the flat sea (it took them 40 minutes to start again), the French navigator finished 2 hours and 20 minutes before his sistership &#8220;<em>Dream Pearls&#8221;<\/em>, skipped by Arnaud Delamare and Eric Mordret.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>French domination<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the <strong>IRC Canting Keel class, Nicolas Groleau finished first onboard Mach 45 <\/strong><em>\u201cBretagne Telecom\u201d<\/em>, just before \u201c<em>Privateer<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In <strong>IRC 1<\/strong>, Samuel Prietz\u2019s <strong>Ker 39<\/strong> won the race with a 30-minute lead on the South African Mike Bartholomew\u2019s<strong> GP42<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Very nice performance for Corentin Lognone onboard MC34 \u00ab\u00a0Nutmeg Solidaire en Peloton\u00a0\u00bb, class leader in IRC2, finishing 2 hours and 22 minutes ahead of his sistership, Vincent Willemart and Eric Campenhout.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gerard Quenot, former<strong> Transquadra <\/strong>winner, finished first in<strong> IRC4 <\/strong>thanks to his<strong> JPK 10.10<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>In Two-Handed, Stuart Childerley and Kelvin Rawlings save the honor of the British by winning onboard \u201c<em>Jester<\/em>\u201d, a J\/105.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As for the course record, it has not been broken and is still held by \u201c<strong><em>Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing<\/em>\u201d Volvo 70<\/strong> with a completion course in 42 hours and 39 minutes in 2011.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Adrena on the Fastnet<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were a lot of ADRENA users competing in the Rolex Fastnet Race 2015.
