Vendée Arctique 2026: Adrena Pro Finds the Best Route Through the Arctic Circle

For the Vendée Arctique – Les Sables d’Olonne 2026, Adrena Pro enabled skippers to cross the Arctic Circle at the optimal waypoint. The routing feature with waypoint management, which has been successfully tested, will be available starting in January 2027 in the upcoming v24 release, exclusively on Adrena Pro.

In the Vendée Arctique, the Arctic Circle forms a wide gate spanning several hundred miles. There is no mandatory waypoint: each skipper chooses their own entry angle. It is precisely this type of challenge, a wide gate, changing weather conditions, complex optimization calculations, that Adrena Pro solved for the competitors in the 2026 edition. And for Race Control, it offers the ability to simulate the boats’ trajectories as accurately as possible for better fleet tracking.

The feature operates in three steps. The skipper or organizer creates the course waypoints and designates the two ends of the gate. When the routing is initiated, Adrena Pro automatically detects the gate, calculates the optimal waypoint, and suggests the fastest route by factoring in wind, current, and sea conditions in real time. This is not the geographically shortest route, it is the route optimized for the current conditions.

Its scope extends beyond the Vendée Arctique. Any race featuring a large gate can benefit directly from it. Record attempts are another natural application: on a round-the-world race, a non-optimized passage point through a gate can result in hours, sometimes even days, lost.

The feature will be available upon the release of v24 in January 2027, exclusively on Adrena Pro.
