The occasion for taking stock of a few races: Barcelona World Race, Volvo Ocean Race, Spi Ouest-France…

A dynamic duo wins the Barcelona World Race!

Congratulations to Bernard Stamm and Jean Le Cam on Cheminées Poujoulat who won the Barcelona World Race and set the reference time for the two-crew handed round the world race: 84 days, 5 hours, 50 minutes and 25 seconds!

They led the race since January 17th, right after the withdrawal of Alex Thomson and Pepe Ribes due to a dismasting, which represented the ¾ of the route!

Find here their first reactions.

Because of a technical stop in New Zealand, Guillermo Altadill and José Munoz on Neutrogena finished the race in 2nd position, 5 days after the leader!

Catalans Anna Corbella and Gerard Marín take third place and complete the podium for this 2014-15 edition of the Barcelona World Race.

4 boats are still in the race, we wish them fair winds to Barcelona. To follow them, click here.

Volvo Ocean Race: Leg 5 – Auckland to Itajaí

The other Round the World Race

Currently racing through the Great South, the sailors participating in the other Round the World Race do not spare their effort either! From Auckland to Itajaï, this leg is not only the longest of the edition (6776 miles), but it is also the toughest. Charles Caudrelier and his crew aboard Dongfeng Race Team can testify to that, as they have been victims of a dismasting while they were approaching the famous Cape Horn. This is a hard blow that necessarily makes think of the one experienced by Groupama 4 two years ago: in 1st position before a dismasting, they finally won the race!

The boats are expected on April 5th in Itajaï. Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing is currently leading the leg.

The report written by Chris Oxenbould, Stan Honey and Chuck Hawley about Team Vestas Wind crash on November 29th during the second leg between Cape Town and Abu Dhabi has been released and is available here. The report highlights the fact that ADRENA security alarms may have prevented the crash from happening if they had been activated.

Find here a video about all security alarms provided by ADRENA navigation software.
