Race Partnerships

Transat Jacques Vabre

Adrena is official partner of this 13rd edition. From Le Havre, France, to Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, this 4350-mile course across the Atlantic Ocean from North to South is even more demanding than a transatlantic from East to West. It requires acute tactical qualities, strong weather analysis skills and an excellent physical condition to keep up with high speed throughout the route.

Vendee Globe

Adrena is Official Provider of the Vendee Globe 2017/2017

Thanks to the use of Adrena both by the Race Management Team and the skippers, communication between them is optimized and security of the competitors is strengthened. Indeed, Adrena Navigation Software allows the Organization Team to keep track of the whole fleet and to detect anomalies: changes of direction or unusual boats’ speed.

Adrena Navigation Software also creates a synergy between the skippers and the Organization Team: the competitors can be informed of ice position, waypoints to take into account or any other important information that would impact the race.

This partnership is the opportunity for Adrena to associate with an event that shares its values: excellence, passion and quest for achievement.

The Vendee Globe is a real human challenge in which the skippers become amazing sea adventurers. During this unique non-stop solo round the world race without assistance, they are rounding the three legendary capes: Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn.

Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team

ADRENA is proud to support the Young American Junior Big Boat Sailing Team, a youth big boat team based out of American Yacht Club in Rye, New York USA.

The junior big boat sailing program has been a fixture at American Yacht Club for generations. However, since 2012 it has greatly expanded both in scope and in intensity. Today the program is considered a national leader in junior big boat sailing, which other clubs are now modelling their programs after.

In a very short time the team has racked up significant race wins and trophies and has gained notoriety in the process. For example in 2016, the team who was the youngest entry in the Newport Bermuda Race finished second over the line – behind none other than Comanche – and won first place in the St David’s Lighthouse Division 10 and the inaugural Stephens Brothers Youth Division prize. Racing legend, Guillermo Altadill was the principle navigator on board the boat and was able to resource information quickly and efficiently to ensure that his weather routing was a resounding success!

Olympics French Sailing Team

ADRENA software helps the technical staff and coach to:

  • Create weather data files (wind, current…) with a very high resolution by replaying the recorded data thanks to the “replay” function included in Adrena software,
  • Create speed polars of the various Olympic series thanks to Optima software.

This work enables the calculation of micro-routings on the Olympic races and then defines the settings acting upon the route regarding the conditions encountered. It gives the French Sailing Team a true tool for tactical and weather decision making for the Olympic Games.

OceanDrivers

OceanDrivers Academy was born with the aim of filling the gap between developers/producers of technology for the sailing world and final users.

The way to get sailors more involved and passionate about technology is to teach them and show them everything they can do with electronics and computers, how easily many things can be done, and what the benefits are. The Academy offers modular courses (online, in classrooms and onboard) at different levels to cover the whole range of people belonging to the sailing world: racers, cruisers, dinghy sailors, offshore navigators, coaches, race officers.
