A fundamental Safety Kit for a secure navigation
From cruising to ocean racing, a spare PC or an efficient backup are necessary when a piece of navigation software is used onboard. As many computer problems may occur, it is essential to anticipate all kind of trouble to ensure a secure navigation.
How to be prepared and how to create your own safety kit?
The first solution is to have a second PC onboard stored in a waterproof and padded bag that includes a cloned hard disk. This is a very efficient solution that does not require any manipulation when it has to be used. However this can be bulky and heavy and disk cloning is not an easy process.
Second option is to prepare a backup of the software and of all of the necessary files by copying them on a waterproof USB key with a good capacity. Thus in case of major failure, you will be able to get back vital functions after a system restore.

Since version 13, Adrena provides a backup tool that gives the possibility to save and recover files and settings of the software.
Backup tool
Go to Settings menu → Restore Settings.
It is then possible to choose the elements to be restored: the totality or only some of them.
To save all of the elements, click on “Select all”.
All of your codes and CMap charts will be saved. Thus you will be able to restore them on a new PC.
Launch a recovery
First of all, Adrena software has to be installed again if it is not installed any more on the PC. The most recent executable file (installation file) is always available on our website on the Downloads page. The executable file has to be saved on the USB safety key during your preparation.
Then launch the recovery from a local file: to restore your backup, go to Settings menu → Restore Settings.
It is possible to choose the elements to be restored: the totality or only some of them.
This safety kit is not only essential in case of major failure but it is also very useful to recover a Sailect that was erased by mistake or to import the configuration of digital data that you prepared at home for example.
